Loud music can lead to hearing loss for up to 1 billion people, warns WHO


The World Health Organization (WHO) designated March 3 this year as World Hearing Day. At the time, the agency warned that more than 1 billion people between the ages of 12 and 35 were at risk of hearing loss from excessive exposure to loud music.

Bente Mikkelsen, director of chronic diseases at the WHO, highlighted that millions of young people and teenagers can be affected by the unsafe use of headphones and loud noises at events, concerts and nightclubs.
